How to install ORM Designer on MacOS

This article is a step-by-step screenshot tutorial about installing ORM Designer on Mac OS and Wine.

This is a step by step tutorial how to install ORM Designer on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (version 10.6). Installation on older version of Mac OS X could be similar, but currently not tested.

Installation requirements

Wine is required for successfull running of ORM designer on Mac OS. X11 application is also needed. X11 applications should be automatically installed during Mac OS system installation, if you are not sure whether X11 is installed please read next step carefully.

How to test if X11 is installed

You can check if X11 is installed by using spotlight in the right top corner. Type "X11" to the search box and check if X11 application is the listed in result list. If X11 application isn't installed on your Mac, please install it from your Mac OS installation DVD or download it from XQuartz project page. Installation of Wine

The easiest way how to install Wine on Mac OS is using WineBottler. WineBottler will install all the Wine files on your Mac automatically. WineBottler can be downloaded from site http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/.

After having downloaded WineBottler installer, you can simply install Wine and WineBottler by dragging Wine and WineBottler icons to "Application" folder.

Installation of ORM Designer

If you already have successfully installed Wine and X11, you can start ORM Designer installation. As first step you have to download ORM Designer latest version.

Next run downloaded executable by simple clicking on installer icon. Wine ask you how to run selected application. Choose first option "Run directly in ...." and click Go.
